DESERT VISIONS is a unique journey into the spiritual beauty of nature.  It is also a journey into the mysterious inner landscape of Self.

    Josie RavenWing has been holding ceremonial retreats for 16 years and brings a wealth of experience and the spiritual richness of world traditions to these events.

    Desert Visions is for those people wishing to deepen their spiritual life, their personal healing process, their vision, among a supportive environment of similar-minded people in a lovely natural setting.

   The activities of the week will include:

  *** shamanic healing work

  *** ceremonial dance, chanting and drumming

  *** purification lodge ceremony (known sometimes as a "sweat" lodge, but  conducted according to Josie's guides rather than of specific Native traditions)

  *** power/energy-gathering exercises

  *** making of sacred/"medicine" objects

  *** solo wilderness "vision" quest (a universally - practiced ceremony by peoples all around the planet that involves several days alone in nature for spiritual purposes)

    Upon registration you will be sent an information "packet" of how best to prepare for Desert Visions spiritually and physically, and what to bring.

   DESERT VISIONS will generally be held on a privately owned, beautiful nature preserve in southern California. In addition to it being an ideal site for ceremonial activities, it also has an outdoor kitchen, complete with refrigerator, stove, etc., and several showers and toilets. So even though we'll be camping, we will also have some luxuries we did not have on the Arizona retreats.

These programs will be available only on request with a minimum of 10 participants. Josie is also available upon request to offer Desert Visions programs in other parts of the U.S. or abroad if there is adequate interest and appropriate natural surroundings. DATES: TO BE HELD ON REQUEST FOR GROUP OF A MINIMUM OF 10 PARTICIPANTS.
LOCATION: PRIMARILY ARIZONA, SOME OF UTAH, AND MAYBE A BIT OF NEW MEXICO

In her book A Season of Eagles, Josie RavenWing describes her powerful experiences over a five-year period of living in Dinetah (Navajo land). This Southwest journey will invite participants into some of the magic that she experienced during that time.

Not only will Josie be taking people to various "power places" she knows and loves in Arizona and Utah, but she will also be sharing spiritual teachings and ceremony in order to provide a unique journey in this land that is a feast for the eyes, the heart and the spirit.

And the timing couldn't be better! Participants will have the opportunity to attend the yearly Navajo Nation pow wow - the largest pow wow in the country - to watch the colorful intertribal fancy dances, shawl dances, eagle dances, hoop dances and more.

The trip will also include a day and a half exploring mystical Canyon de Chelly, where Spider Woman of the Dineh helped bring into being the human race when the efforts of all the other Holy People failed; time in the Painted Desert, and other possibilities depending on our time, energy, and destiny, including the options of Bryce Canyon, Zion Ntl. Park, Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods, and the Hopi Mesa

Our sleep will be within in the creature comfort of motels, but our dreams and much of our waking time will allow our spirit the wild freedom of natural vistas and spirit travel.
